I posted a video tutorial recently on MelAclaro.com about using a digital voice recorder as a proxy for a wireless microphone. It's a practical (read that: inexpensive) technique when recording those videos where you want the flexibility to walk around but don't want to (shouldn't) rely on your camera's built-in microphone to capture your talking head.
I mean, if you've ever tried to record yourself in a room when you're more than about 3 feet away from your camera, then you know the problem with degraded / crappy sound. As I mentioned in the post about the Poor Man's Microphone, you can actually survive suffering degraded video quality, but if the audio's too out of wack, you're sunk.
