The Preamble
In this on-going series, I've compiled my top 10 list of most interesting click-throughs on Twitter in the past week. These have been gleaned from cool folks I follow on Twitter. To help introduce you to some of them, I've included links below to their Twitter name. They're cool and I'm happy to encourage you to follow them, too.
Top 10 Twitter Click-throughs Dec 14-Dec 20, 2008
Note: Some of the click-throughs I'm reporting on this week were actually culled from a previous week. I missed posting them due to a family-related issue. But, I didn't want to not post them because, well, they were interesting!
- MyDropcard.com. (@amachina). Why interesting: Remember when the PalmPilot and the Handspring were all the rage? Remember that one feature where you could pass "business cards" between PalmPilots and Handspring devices? This is kinda like that. But over SMS and a few other formats.
- OnlineVolunteering.org. (@tawnypress). Why interesting: Because, any opportunity we can find that helps people help other people is cool any way you slice it.
- Twellow.com (@mackcollier). Why interesting: Because, for all its simplicity, Twitter itself is hot and cold with its people finder. So, leave it to third-parties to find a solution.
- TwitterPack. (@mackcollier). Why interesting: A wiki for Twitter tools. Go figure.
- YouTube Video - Real Estate Downfall. (@jaymedley). Why interesting: Because it's funny. And I hope my friends in real estate find it funny, too. (Gawd I hope so.)
- Blog Post: 12 Twitter Apps for the iPhone. (@howtomakemyblog). Why interesting: iPhone + Twitter = Cool. I wished I knew about these when I first got my iPhone. Also, there's an app. comparison chart which makes it easy to, well, compare.
- Tweetwasters.com. (@warplayer). Why interesting: It gives statistics about how much you've tweeted...all the way down to the second. (I said these were interesting, not necessarily useful.) ;)
- TwitterLocal.net. (@mackcollier). Why interesting: (There's that mackcollier guy again. What's up with that?) This one came to me after I had been wondering just how to find tweeps within a defined geographic area. Then, voila! This is that. It's cool.
- Twitter Friends Network Browser. (@valeriestevens). Why interesting: An interesting concept for displaying your twitter connections in a neural network type format. Not particularly useful beyond the display aspect. But, remember, microwaves weren't particularly interesting at one point.
- Ask Mr Tweet (@mprasatik). Why interesting: S'posedly Mr. Tweet will determine who are the influential people in your extended network you should be following. An interesting idea because I'm all for effectiveness and efficiency. But, there's a bit of a wait time after you initiate it.
