I think web videos are great. Advances in compression technology, video gear and internet service providers making it easier to upload videos makes it easy for anybody to tell a story using video. That's a two-edged sword isn't it? On the one hand, the have-video-will-travel concept applies. On the other hand, so does garbage-in-garbage-out.
Let's face it, there's alot of noise out there. It doesn't take much to check out YouTube, Google-video or Yahoo-video to see that a lot of the uploads aren't placed with video quality in mind. Not too big a deal if you're an informal v-blogger who just does a quick post from a webcam. I guess that's part of the free culture of the internet. But, I'm still appalled at the number of "professionals" who don't take time to edit, let alone pay attention to sound quality and video quality. Not so with the one below. A quality spot that not only pays attention to edits, lighting, sound and bitrates, but also the time factor of viewer attention: The rule of thumb -- not more than about 2- to 3-minutes. This one's from Realty Times posted on Yahoo video.
